Automatic Baggage Checking at Indira Gandhi International Airport

As we all know that , Indira Gandhi International Airport is under renovation. We hope that soon inconvenience faced by the passengers will end. To start with, a spokesperson of the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), the airport developer of the Delhi airport, told IANS that trial runs for an ‘inline baggage system’ have begun that would not only enable baggage to get checked and assigned automatically while passengers wait for their boarding passes but also do away with x-rays.

“This would ease overcrowding at the manual x-ray machines,” the official said, adding that the new system was expected to bring respite to passengers.

“Once we have the two rows for inline baggage system by July 1 and six others in the next three weeks, passengers can directly walk to the check-in counter and receive their boarding pass while the baggage gets checked and assigned automatically,” he explained.

The inline baggage system is a combination of conveyor belts, bar code readers and inline baggage sorters. The passenger also need not stand in a separate queue for X-ray screening of bags before checking in.When the passenger deposits his baggage at the check-in counter, a modular system weighs and transports the luggage to a conveyor belt. Once the baggage is assigned a position, it proceeds to a security checkpoint.

thats great news!! soon passengers will not have to spend hours in getting their baggage checked. lets hope the system funtions well. i m keeping my fingers crossed.

The Magic of Dilli haat

In the heart of Delhi is situated, Dilli haat which is well known for its traditional Crafts Bazaar and irresistable food. You can expect very good crowd in the evening as the weather is pleasant. The entry fee is reasonable. In order to have the best items one needs to be a good bargainer.

If you luv traditional n antiques- wall hangings, khadi kurtas, terricotta pieces,
rosewood and sandalwood carvings, embellished camel hide footwear, sophisticated fabric and drapery, gems, beads, metal crafts, and silk and wool fabrics, then it is the best place for you.

Other best part of it is its easy accessibility, it is situated right to the left of the Safderjung- AIIMS flyover.Other Dilli Haat has also come up in Pitampura, near TV Tower. It is spread over an area of 3 hectares and offers good underground parking. The shops are ok n the there are less options in food as compared to the Dilli haat in INA . But it is drawing huge audiences from east n west delhi. Must Visit at least once.

Who is running India?? Money or principles

Yesterday, 22nd July,2008 will be remembered as an eventful day, where whole country witnessed sheer act of diplomacy which was driven by lust to be in power by the Congress. The parliament became a bargaining stage where money was distributed like nothing .
I have always hated politics, and after yesterday's poor show, i have decided to stay from it as far as possible. Sometimes , i feel what is India , as a country heading for. Who are the drivers?? The money minded politicians, greedy political parties who have only one aim of being in power..fill their always empty potbellies with money whose hunger never ends..The politics ' dirty face has come open in public, thanks to the increasing power of media.
Now, i have made up my mind of not supporting any party, though i support Nuclear Deal. I wish , that we have a saviour for our country who is willing to drive it by principles n not by money. But is it possible!! Can principles be more powerful than money!!

The Mall Mania - New Face of Delhi

Just, within few years down the line, Delhi has developed a new Face. It is a face which is powdered all pink n white with the glow of rising malls n multiplexes. The malls have no doubt, added a class to lifestyles of the masses where these people spend majority of time loundering, relaxing and exploring the new air conditioned space provided by these malls with their friends n loved ones. This new class comes with an overhead of increased price in food courts n the products sold in the malls.
But our youngsters are liking every piece of it, for it offers them good hangout place with nice crowd n so called 'feel gud' atmosphere. Be it friendship day celebration, b'day celebration, pastime, dating or eating out you will find then hanging around the mall.
To bring the other side on front "what are we gaining out of the malls??" certainly the growing craze for branded stuff among the youth indicates improved lifestyle n also the desire to earn more so as to keep up with latest trendz . But then there are other local shop owners, who find their business affected by this mindset of today's youth. The local markets are failing to attract the young minds ,with well known brands going for affordable product lines which in every way outshines the local products.
I find its 'the name game' which will hamper our craze for local markets and in no time our youth will prefer only the mall stamped products. But will the malls be able to create the charizma of shopping down the lanes of local markets, those crazy sales!!, the rasta side eating while shopping, the lovely bargaining, the parking hassles ( which too becomes a gossip issue!!) .
Of course, in true sense of shopping ,my markets will always be dearer to me than those made up malls ,be it Rajouri garden mkt, Sarojini Nagar, Lajpat Nagar Central Mkt, Karol Bagh, Connaught Place to name a few..

Delhi at a Glance

The First word which comes to my mind on the mention of Delhi is " Dilli Dilwalon ki". It has place for everybody. It is like river Ganga accepting every Diety's offering. But as time passes on.. things are becoming differrent from travelling in rickshaw to Delhi Metro , unpredictable weather where scorching sun reminds us of punjab's summer n pleasant evenings that of hyderabad evenings. The people have turned true professionals which is visible in their level of friendship but one thing remains is the bonding between school friends, relatives, though it is coated with sugar n spice of Delhi's modern air.
The place has evolved as a hub for malls n is no doubt a shoppers paradise. It offers some of the best roadside food n nice restaurants . One thing which comes as a price to stay in this place is the rising prices of accommodation be it rented or owned. But there is ample space for everybody including improvement . Through this blog i would like to share my experiences of staying in delhi, best places to visit, new restaurants views, best shooping points, hangout places , best delhi contests n some issues like safety, pollution etc. hope to see u part of my discussions..
